Membership for Chinese Designers

As the internationally recognised body for professional designers in all design and design-related disciplines, the Chartered Society of Designers (CSD), works to support Chinese designers at every stage of their careers ‘From Learning to Earning’ ™.

The Society has played an important role in the Chinese design sector, in fact in 2006, it worked with China to promote design professionalism through a memorandum of understanding agreement with the Dragon Design Festival, a new foundation for Chinese design talent.

In 2019, CSD displayed its members’ work (including that of Chinese designers) at the London Design Pavilion at Shenzhen Design Week (SZDW) with the support of the Mayor of London.

The Society has visited and spoken to design audiences in Beijing, Qingdao, Dalian, Shanghai, Suzhou, Guangzhou and Shenzhen,

Activities have included judging design awards in Beijing and Shenzhen, delivering master classes and lectures to design students and meeting with PRC government departments and ministers to promote design as an economic and social enabler.

CSD membership for Chinese Designers

The CSD membership programme has been designed to accommodate both aspiring and professional practising designers in any country or region fully recognising the geographical, cultural and social contexts wherever they practice in the world.  Becoming a member provides a whole range of benefits to designers, those studying design, their clients, the public, and the economy, both in China and beyond.

CSD membership spans from Student membership through to Chartered Designer status being carefully designed to benchmark applicants’ competencies, using CSD’s professional framework for design CPSK™.

Designers in China

The Society showcases its members’ portfolios on its website in the Find-a-Designer directory, this allows the public and clients to search for experienced designers in all design disciplines. The tool allows you to filter by design discipline, membership level and location.

CSD Course Endorsement Programme in China

CSD’s Course Endorsement Programme (CEP) is a partnership with education and training providers. The Society proudly endorses programmes, training programmes and modules internationally including those of educators in the People’s Republic of China.

Currently, CSD collaborates with Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) and has accredited several of the university’s design programmes, you can search for these here.
