Name changed to the Chartered Society of Designers

The Society set up the Design Business Association (DBA)

Kenneth Grange CBE RDI PPCSD, Industrial Designer, is president of the Society 1987

Sir Kit McMahon is the guest speaker at the CSD Minerva Dinner where the Minerva Medal was awarded to Jean Muir CBE FCSD for her contribution to Fashion Design

Rodney Fitch CBE PPCSD, Retail Designer, is president of the Society 1988 - 1989

Mrs Heather Brigstocke MA is the guest speaker at the CSD Minerva Dinner where the Minerva Medal was awarded to David Mellor FCSD

The Society took over the British Institute of Interior Design which has origins dating back to the guilds of the 14th century.

Mr Eric Forth MP is the guest speaker at the CSD Minerva Dinner where the Minerva Medal was awarded to James Gardner FCSD for his contribution to Exhibition Design
