Overview
The internationally recognised body for the design profession, providing support and guidance for designers at every stage of their career.
We champion professional design practice.
We do this by offering a range of programmes, initiatives and guidance to support our members, designers and those studying and teaching design. This in turn delivers benefit to the wider public including: clients, consumers, other organisations and government, allowing us to fulfill our remit as a Registered Charity.
We hold a Royal Charter granted in 1976 by HM The Queen Elizabeth II and are the internationally recognised professional body for those practicing across all areas of design. HM The Queen Elizabeth II also gave the Society the sole power to set up and maintain the only Register of Chartered Designers and to award the title of Chartered Designer.
We are committed to upholding Intellectual Property Rights and work closely with the UK Intellectual property Office and hold Observer Status of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Geneva.
